Numerology

Using numbers for magic and divination is an old practice. You can discover your personal number by adding the numerical values of the letters of your name, or someone else's. You can learn some possible personality quirks of another. You can design a special word for specific energies. You can use the numbers instead of the letters as a code. You can use them to add energy to a spell by repeating a chant a chosen number of times. Or you could double the amount of an herb, or the number of candles used. Use your imagination!

The system given below is the traditional one. There are, naturally, several others.

  1. Leader vibration, forthrightness, dominant, active, strong willed, possibly self centered, but with plenty of initiative and originality. Pioneer, self reliance, self development

  2. Values friendship and sentiment, sometimes shy, lacks resolution, fond of home and domestic happiness, gifted psychic, teaches the need for co-operation with others and to cultivate sympathy and understanding.

  3. Lucky, happy, cheerful, generous, optimistic, sometimes self indulgent and extravagant. Teaches expansion of consciousness, generosity and optimism.

  4. Steady, reliable, loyal, hardworking, stubborn, unimaginative, practical persistent, matter of fact. Teaches orderliness, firmness, and the need to build on a foundation of truth.

  5. Active, changeable, many interests and talents, unusual powers of mind, married to impatience, fond of travel, dislikes being tied down. Teaches the search for knowledge and wisdom and the need to find freedom from limitation.

  6. Harmony, beauty, cultured, artistic, fond of luxury, sympathetic, peace loving. Teaches appreciation of beauty and finding harmony with oneself and others.

  7. Mystic, idealistic, misunderstood, thoughtful, self possessed, loner, reserves of inner strength, psychic and intuitive, Teaches the way of withdrawal into one's own soul and finding inner peace and enlightenment.

  8. Organization, material power, conservative, sometimes stern and pessimistic, solid, strong, high principles, cautious, and care. Teaches organization and the ability to use material wisely and with justice.

  9. Great strength for good or ill, active, courageous, ambitious, can be jealous and over hasty, high spirited, fond of excitement. Teaches truly creative living and right use of will.
